About Our Practice

Frederick Frost MD is a board-certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He holds a degree in English from the University of Illinois, and a medical degree from Northwestern University. After postgraduate training at Cook County Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, he was named the Julius N. Frankel Fellow in Spinal Cord Neurotrauma at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. A spinal cord clinician for over three decades, Frost also authored multimillion dollar grants awarded for rehabilitation research. Leading the development of the Northeast Ohio Regional Spinal Cord Injury System at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, he garnered the system’s first Model Systems grant in 1995 from the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research. He has written over 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters in the field of rehabilitation, and was chosen to author the chapter on spinal cord injury medicine in Braddom's "Textbook of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation," the leading reference worldwide in the field of PM&R.

Dr. Frost conceived and created the 6-Clicks capability measurement tool -- now licensed by over 1000 hospitals across the United States, assembling and directing the team responsible for validation and clinical integration of this tool. He served over ten years on the Boards of the American Spinal Injury Association and the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, culminating in election as President of the American Paraplegia Society. In 2016 he received the Estin Comarr Award, the most prestigious North American honor in the field of spinal cord medicine. Joining Cleveland Clinic in 1997, he achieved the rank of Professor of Medicine of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. Frost served as Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for over ten years, while holding multiple institute and enterprise leadership roles in rehabilitation, home care, hospice and post-acute clinical domains.
