About Our Practice

From an early age, Dr Elders developed an interest in the dynamics of motion. In an effort to develop that interest, he attended the University Of Michigan School Of Engineering, graduating with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He subsequently continued his studies at the University Of Michigan School Of Medicine where he was awarded his medical degree. While yet a medical student, he became interested in combining his background as an engineer with a developing fascination with the mechanics of human motion which culminated in a decision to specialize in orthopedic surgery. Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Elders completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. During his final year of residency, he was honored with an election to serve as chief resident for the program. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency, Dr. Elders decided to seek additional sub-specialization in spinal surgery. At that point, he completed fellowship level training in spinal surgery at the prestigious Texas Back Institute. Dr. Elders has published research articles on topics such as bone mineral density, spinal fusion, and artificial disc replacement and he maintains an active research interest. He has coauthored a chapter on artificial disc replacement for the prestigious publication, Seminars in Spine Surgery. He was a founding member of the Integrated Spine Associates division of North Texas Orthopedics prior to joining the clinical staff at Scott and White Hospital. As a Scott & White physician, Dr. Elders holds an assistant professorship appointment at the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Elders has primary interests that include the non-operative and operative management of spinal trauma, spinal deformity and adult degenerative spinal conditions including spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, spondylosis, and herniated nucleus pulposus. He has extensive experience in the most advanced spinal surgical techniques including minimally invasive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement.
