About Our Practice

The International Spine Institute was founded in 2015 by Marco A. Rodriguez, MD. His practice specializes in the least invasive spine surgery, medical tourism, and concierge spine medicine. His primary goals are educating patients about the benefits of least invasive procedures such as stem cell disc therapy, endoscopic spine surgery, and minimally invasive artificial disc replacement  as alternatives to spinal fusion. Dr. Rodriguez strives to use the least invasive procedure that relieves patients’ pain and returns them to work and an active lifestyle.

Dr. Rodriguez is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon, who treats a variety of degenerative spinal conditions including low back pain, sciatica, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, neck pain, spondylolisthesis, and failed back surgery.

At the International Spine Institute, our motto is "Less Is So Much More." His medical philosophy aims to bridge the gap between pain management and spinal surgery utilizing least invasive procedures. These procedures use smaller incisions, and have a faster recovery and return to work than minimally invasive spine surgery.

The least invasive procedures such as stem cell therapy, endoscopic rhizotomy, and endoscopic discectomy surgery, allow Dr. Rodriguez to provide his patients with effective long-term relief from low back pain without the long recovery of spinal fusion. Done under conscious sedation or local anesthetic in an outpatient setting, patients experience minimal recovery. Stem cell therapy is done percutaneously through the skin, and endoscopic spine procedures are done through a ½-inch incision with minimal pain and discomfort. Patients often return to work and an active lifestyle as early as two weeks.

Dr. Rodriguez has dramatically reduced the number of spinal fusions in his practice due to least invasive procedures. The endoscopic rhizotomy surgery spares many patients suffering from low back pain a spinal fusion. His patients prefer the least invasive surgery and are very satisfied with their results. Many pain management patients have had several percutaneous radiofrequency ablations of small nerves in their back. They often complain of having to repeat the procedure every year or two. These patients have great results with the endoscopic rhizotomy.
