About Our Practice

Dr. Castro practices spine surgery in Wheat Ridge, CO. His practice encompasses many aspects of spine surgery in adults and children. His practice includes non-surgical and surgical techniques to treat degenerative spinal conditions, spinal stenosis, low back and neck pain, spondylolisthesis, spinal deformity, scoliosis (abnormal spinal curvature), herniated discs, and trauma in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. To provide his patients comprehensive spinal care, Dr. Castro works hand-in-hand with other practitioners in the community including physiatrists, pain management specialists, chiropractors, and physical therapists. Originally from South Carolina, Dr. Castro received his Undergraduate and Masters' Degrees in bioengineering specializing in biomechanics from Clemson University. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Castro received formal orthopaedic surgical training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and St. Vincent's Medical Center in New York, NY. Further, he is Fellowship trained in spinal surgery to treat complex spinal disorders in Denver, CO. Dr. Castro is active in research. Many of his publications appear in orthopaedic and spine surgery journals and textbooks. He has presented his research at many national and international meetings. Dr. Castro is the recipient of the John Moe Award for best basic science research at the Scoliosis Research Society.
