Dr. Freeman has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders involving the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. His training includes four years in general surgery residency, and four years of concentrated training in neurologic surgery. Dr. Freeman trained at the renowned Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He is experienced in the most advanced techniques in surgery, including laser and microscopic surgery. He has extensive background and training in the placement of spinal internal fixation devices for fusion, endoscopic carpal tunnel release and dorsal column stimulator implantation for pain control. He is well-versed in intraoperative evoked response monitoring. Dr. Freeman takes a conservative approach to surgery, recommending surgery only when it is the best treatment option for your specific condition. Dr. Freeman has served as Clinical Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at UMD, and is the former Chief of Staff at Superior Memorial Hospital, now St. Mary's Hospital of Superior. He has also served as President, Chairman, and on the Board of Directorsof The Neuroscience Institute and Center for Health care, Ltd. and has presented his research in medical journals and at professional medical conferences.
