About Our Practice
Peter Hollis, MD joined the North Shore-LIJ Health System in 2005 and is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Franklin Hospital. Dr. Hollis has had a continued interest in malignant brain tumors, skull base tumors, spinal disorders and microneurosurgery and has become the driving force in the use of minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of spinal disorders. Dr. Hollis is routinely an invited speaker and instructor for courses on minimally invasive spine surgery.
Dr. Hollis received his MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 1981. Trained in general surgery and neurological surgery at Mount Sinai, Dr. Hollis has been in neurosurgical practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Hollis is a member of the New York State and New York County Medical Societies, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery and the North American Skull Base Medical Society and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Hollis is consistently at the forefront concerning the implementation of innovative procedures and products concerning the spine. He has extensive experience with the use of bioresorbable material in fusion of both the cervical and lumbar spine. Dr. Hollis is nationally recognized as an expert in percutaneously placed dynamic stabilization rods.
