Lateral Post-op X-ray Shows Posterior Spinal Instrumentation

This is a post-operative lateral (side view) x-ray that shows a 2-level vertebrectomy and instrumented posterior (surgery performed from the back) spinal fusion from T1-L2.  The patient, a 14-year-old boy was diagnosed with an idiopathic scoliosis at the left side of his thoracic (mid back) spine.  Vertebrectomy is a procedure wherein the surgeon removes one or more of the patient's vertebral bodies (bones).
