L5 S1 Spondylolisthesis

Started by Clajul on 03/19/2017 6:31am

Hi i am a mum of almost 14 year old daughter. She is an elite gymnast. Last january she started having back muscel spasm and after physio teraphy went to a sport doctor and did an x ray. X ray showed stressed fracture. He recommend we see an orthopedic surgoen, this surgeon recommended to do an Mri and after a Ct scan. Results are she has grade1 Spondylolisthesis . ALL Training has been stopped as she cannot do any hyperextenions due to pain. She hasn t yet reached her puberty .
Surgeon said that this did not happen due to gymnastics but the pars has not joined or developed. Also said that thére is a chance that they could not develop by time. You can imagine my daughter her dream is shattered right now. He told us that at least we have to wait 6 months she can only goes to physio and do water therapy.
Has anyone been through this please

Hello, Clajul--thank you for taking the time to share your daughter's story. We are so sorry to hear about what she is experiencing. We can't imagine how hard it is for the both of you.

We can't empathize with what your daughter is going through, but we want to make sure you know about all the spondylolisthesis information we have on SpineUniverse. This article can connect you to a wealth of information about the condition ( Spondylolisthesis Center ).

Your daughter is going through a tough time right now, and you probably feel helpless. But, having a great support system makes a huge difference. You're a concerned mother, and being there for your daughter to keep her spirits up can be just as important as her physical treatments.

We wish all the very best for you and your daughter.
