Candidate for Direct Pars Repair w/ Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis?

Started by Whitedaisymom on 10/30/2016 6:18am

Hello,

I have a bilateral pars fracture with a 4mm slip of my L5 on S1. Could I still be a candidate for a direct pars repair?

I've seen postings from a few others here who had slips as large as 1.5cm and still had the Bucks procedure.

But it seems like some doctors contend that only those with zero slip are a candidate. So which is it?

Is the Bucks procedure the only one that can be done when there is a slip?

Hello,

I'm interested to hear what you found out? My 16 yr old daughter also has bilateral pars defect (7mm on right) and a 4mm slip of L5 over S1. Dr. in Atlanta recommends fusion. Problem is she has a dream of playing college tennis. Missing out on a year at this point will squash that dream. She has slight spina bifida occulta so Dr. didn't recommend pars repair. We are at a loss.
