Laser Spine Institute/laminotomy for Spondylolisthesis

Started by bobolink on 02/10/2011 2:09pm

Has anyone had procedures done at the Laser Spine Institute in FL?? I have Grade 1 spondylolisthesis, pain in the butt and numbness in the lower leg and feet and spinal stenosis. Walking, which is my favorite form of excersize has become difficult. I last about 20 minutes. A fusion has been reccommended when I am ready. I know the procedures at the Institue will not cure my problem but may relieve the symptons. They have started taking my insurance so I am tempted but all I read on the internet is not good. Anybody have any first hand knowledge?? Thanks!

I had surgery at LSI in Tampa. The worst mistake I ever made. I had a good friend that is a surgeon and he told me not to do it. I did it anyway. I am sorry that I did. I also just talked to a spine specialist in Boca Raton and he told me that there are a lot of lawsuits against LSI.
My pain is worse than ever. Just my thoughts

I'm sorry the surgery didn't work for you. I am very nervous about going to them after everything I've read. Did they do damage? Did you have spondylolisthesis? What were the reasons the other surgeons said for not going?

To Everyone, I had a Fusion open back surgery. I was in so much pain the first 2 weeks it was unreal. I`m still in about the same or worse pain then presurgery. So it`s not just Lazer surgery. I had a friend that had lazer surgery and it cost out of pocket 60,000. The pain was gone for 30 days. Then it was back the same. The only thing different now is she lost her home she gave all her money to them. She was in so much pain. Best of luck to all JUST BEWARE. Sam

I have had spinal problems my whole life and at age 46 my spondylolisthesis was a grade 2. I had alot of pain. I had anterior (small incision from the front) fusion of L5, S1 with two "LT cages", plate, screws and a collegen sponge with sythetic bone protein. IT WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID! At my 10 week follow-up appointment I was able to brag to my surgeon that I rode my (recumbent) bicycle 36 miles the day before. Dr. ZDeblick from U. W. Wisconsin, Madison Spine Clinic designed and patented the procedure and equipment. I'm very happy I went through it, wondering why I waited so long. Now I have herniated cervical discs, stenosis and more and wish surgery could fix those, but my low back is good.
