Scoliosis

Started by 102017991670169... on 06/23/2016 6:24pm

I've have had scoliosis since a teen and have not had brace/surgery. I went to dr. today and my curve is 38 degrees. He said I could expect it to increase 1 percent a year. So my question is, does anyone have experience in increasing curves and increasing pain levels . My pain has gotten much worse, but not my physical deformities. However, I'm wondering as the curve gets worse will deformities be pronounced.

Hi...I too have had scoliosis since I was 13, I'm now 57 and scheduled for correction surgery August 10. As I have aged, obviously my spine is not as flexible as a younger adult so stiffness for me progressed each year. I handled the pain by using massage, chiropractor adjustments, muscle relaxers.

Two years ago my curves were 48/48 degrees; in May the curves were 54/58 degrees.

Since I'm not sure how old you are, my advice is keep on top of your scoliosis and watch for any changes. Make sure your doctor is listening to you too!

Good luck!
