extreme scoliosis

My son will be 13 in March 2012 & has cerebal palsy & mentally challenged. And seizures as well & in a wheelchair. At his doctors visit last week, we found that his curviture is now 130*. It was 90* last August. It is rapidily increasing. 2 yrs ago we found out he has osteopenia. So to do surgery we are looking at several of them in 6 wks. For now he is happy & we are torn as to take a chance on surgery or not do surgery. Would like to hear from anyone who would like to share.
