Social Security Decision!!!

Started by gray809 on 01/04/2011 10:02am

Good morning, today I receive a voice message from my SS caseworker telling me to call my local
SS office on Friday. So, I tried to call him back, but had to leave a voice mail. I'm confused; why am
I calling, and what do I need to say when I call. Does this mean I'm approved or denied. Has this happen to anyone who has applied and been approved or denied. I'm getting ready to have a neck procedural and get the perm spinal cord stim, all in this month. I know my doctors say that I would be approved, base on my back, now my neck is messed up....can anyone tell me if this happen to you...
Thanks...
Sunshine!!!!

I got approved like ten years ago, but I wanted to respond to your post. I, too, got a couple of calls from SS before I was approved. They just wanted to ask me some questions, so don't be too concerned. It will probably all turn out good. Don't worry!

Pam6622.. thanks for responding to my question, I know this years social security will be doing
away from paper checks and going to direct deposit. I just couldnt understand why my caseworker
wanted me to call SS office on Friday. He told me last week he was sure he had enough information to get me approved, he just wanted the MRI on my neck to send with all my other medical records. Thanks Pam its been awhile since I been on the website. Hope you are doing okay.

My 1st question would be are U not represented by an attorney? If not I wish you luck with dealing directly with the caseworkers.. I applied originally in 07-08 after a MVA I almost died in.. I hit a tree head on after being run off the road and went through 3 surgeries on my face, wher2 was for just nasal reconstructions, the other was 2 implant plates and screws in my orbital bone which were mangled from my impact on the windshield.. My jaw was wired shut then also so i had a great time(lol).. The main reason I had applied then was I had a subderral hematoma on my brain and was having seizures that was uncontrollable despite meds and having grand-mal seizures more than 4 times a month which is a standard for disability.. I applied on my own then encouraged my my neurologist in case my seizures were unable to be controlled.. He did 2 video EEG which showed the seizures and wrote notes on my behalf about the fact they were uncontrollable, my license were pulled, etc.. i was also having issues in my back and was under the care of a pain clinic via a neurosurgeon trying to avoid a fusion which now in Jan of 2011 I will be having.. I was denied then despite my doctors opinions b/c their quacks disagreed and mainly from not being represented.. I did appeal and lost.. I then filed a new case using a great attorney who has won 3000 cases since 1988 in our state of NC.. It has taken over 2 years to date and is still in recon stage and headed to ajudication judge here in a few months for a hearing.. its good its taking this long in a way because of the seizures still within limits of the standard disability requires and now the fusion from the DDD and all my issues with the chronic pain despite all conserative measures and the prognosis per the surgeon that more levels may need fusing due to the DDD which has deterorated alot since the 07-08 MVA.. I hope u see my point? Not sure what u are filing for and how things have gone.. I wish u luck and if denied appeal immediately and hire a attorney and be patient.. When approved you will be reimbursed from inital app date minus first 5 months in a lumps sum check.. The max the attorney can take is 5300.00 or a usual 30% of the sum u receive which ever is less.. Good luck and hope u suucceed.. DONT GIVE UP!!!! BE PERSISTENT and if u havent keep a journal daily with all of your problems that will be critical in a appeal..

jww0303...thanks for your imput, but I have faith that I will be approved. My case worker always spoke to me weekly, my neuro doctor and pain doctor told me that I will be approved. My back was a complete mess from a car accident from 1993, now I have one more back surgery, making it be number six, and a procedural on my neck next Monday. My neck has five bulding disc and two herinated. I applied at the beginning of May and have keep the faith with God. I have to use a four wheel walker the rest of my life, my depression is bad, so I take medication for that. Even if I'm denial I already have a lawyer ready to take my case. But, my caseworker has been great to me, he got all my records, exams, test, and he always kept in touch with me weekly. He told me that he had enough information to get me approved base on my records. I will let you know what happens on this Friday when I call...My nervous system is completely damage, I have ddd, djd, and RSD on the right side of my body. I'm off balance and my memory comes and goes. So, pray for me, GOD will give me what I deserve...keep in touch....Sunshine!!!

Sunshine,
God Bless you sweetie....I read your problems and the others here and mine seem so trivial. I came to this site for some advice and found horror story after story. I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers. Don't worry about the social security call, I'm sure it's only procedural and everything will work out for you.

Phil...good morning well heard from my caseworker this morning, he advise me the call is to
get the status of my claim. I'm confused, I just knew I would get a letter stating approved or denial letter. So, what I decide to do is just call my local office and telling them I'm checking on my claim, and pray it goes in my favor, if it don't I will appeal the clain right then. But, I truly believe God will put things in my favor..thanks for praying for me..I willl pray for you also....
Thanks, Sunshine!!!!

Hello...well call to check the status of my disability case, and was told by my local Social Security office my case is under review in Dallas,Tx. Was told to call back in two weeks, and they should have a decision for me then. Has this ever happen to anyone. Is this a good sign for me. I pray I don't get denied, after waiting nine months with no decision made. My caseworker and doctor all say I will be approved not to worry. I still have one surgery on my back left to do on Jan 31,2011 which will be number six. Also, a procedural on my neck Monday Jan 10, 2011, which my pain doctor will put a shot in my neck. Just wanted to let everyone know who has help me understand the process of getting social security disability...
Thanks everyone...Happy New Years to all!!!!

Hey Sunshine:

Let us know when you get a determination. I really think from what you've said you'll have no problem. IF you do, get an attorney right away to file an Appeal. My girlfriend in CA had to do that, and she eventually got it. So worse case scenario, if you get denied, you can Appeal, and they'll back date it from six months from the time you filed. Good Luck!

P.S. Is your name Sunshine or is that just your closing?!

Pam6622...hi Pam yes sunshine is my middle name,my dad name me that due to he say I was smiling when I was born. My first name is Angelia, but I like my middle name better, due to no matter how bad I feel I wake up happy and smiling. Thanks for always giving me good advise, my caseworker say it should go in my favor, I hope so due to right now my depression is getting better; due to I now see my therapist every two weeks, instead of every week. I will keep praying for good news, and believing that GOD will grant me good news. Take care!!!!

I have a 55+ degree scoliosis, degenerative disk disease, & spinal stenosis - had a 4 page document from my DR, xrays paid by SS, and they denied me for the 4th time. Had a lawyer - he retired. Been fighting for 4 1/2 years. Fighting again with a new lawyer.

I was just denied my appeal, both denials said based on Hospital reports.
I have an advocate and my Drs know how bad off I am. I worked my whole life most of it with chronic back pain. I'm so pissed off at the whole system. I believe my Surgeon cared more about his ego than my financial future. Can't have a patient disabled before my work is in medical journals.
I just heard that in my county a minimum of one year before I get a decision from a hearing.
I've already lost my house and sold a lifetime of possessions, cashed in life insurance now my kids won't have money to Burry me. I will be homeless by the time I get any money coming in.
