Spinal Stimulator Suddenly Ineffective

Started by james302 on 05/27/2018 1:13pm

Hi- I would like some ideas from this community. I used to participate in discussions but after I got my SCS in 2010 the pain issues mostly went away. All of a sudden, two months or so ago radicular leg pain AND axial back/hip pain appeared. I have seen pain doc and hip doc and both are confused about why this is happening. I am having the Rep re-program my unit to see if that helps. I doubt it since I already have about 10 different programs. I leave it on 24/7 and generally is 95% effective. Might be time for a new battery or unit. Not sure. Complicated and frustrating. Feels just like 8 years ago. Ugh! I had 3 previous surgeries on L3-4 and L4-5. Most recent CT shows degeneration at these levels and severe stenosis. Thanks for any thought or ideas.

James, what brand is your stimulator? My Medtronic one was implanted in 2013 and has been ineffective for quite some time.

My husband just came back from the doc since his stim stopped working, the leads slipped out of place in his back. Frustrating that he will need a while new unit now, only had it for less than 3 years.

My Medtronic #37714 series was replaced 07/10/2018 with the Nevro HF10. Every two days, I increase the strength level by one. I'm on Level 4 now. I return to my Dr. on Thursday and each week through August. I would like to know how others are doing with this device.
