nerve blocks

Started by Shackleton on 06/03/2015 2:30am

Had nerve blocks with steroid for cervical spondylolisthesis at c5_7_
Procedure relieved pain for several weeks.
Pain came back and same areas were ablated.
For some reason I've had NO relief.
Is it possible that the pain management specialist DIDN'T hit the same nerves that were blocked?
I've read that " area" is flooded with steroid, that's why you get immediate relief, but hitting the EXACT nerve is very different and much more difficult.
Having blocks done on occipital nerve next week.
Should I expect the same thing??

Hi Shackleton:
Nope, don't expect anything fron nerve blocks, epidurals, radio frequency or the such. Doctors actually started performing these types of procedures several decades ago. I thought they were great! Now they are just common practice. But, all that I need to tell you is that the insurance companies demand a series of 3 shots before moving on to something new for th doctor to receive payment! Good luck!
