I suffer with cronic pain due to an auto accicent that happend 13 months after a L4L5 fusion .Hardware was removed .no help with pain in si joint ,ihave tried P.T. and several injections and run out of options except si joint fusion, has anybody had this procedure and with what type of results. I have been dealing with this for several years and tired of pain meds everyday.

Hi hon,

Sorry, I haven't had my fusion surgery yet. I'm on tap for December of this year to have L4-S1 fused, with laminectomy and bone grafting, but I'm interested in what you have going on.

So, did you have your car accident 13 months after the fusion, or 13 months after the hardware was removed - I was a bit confused on your post on that.

I think I've seen SI joint fusions here - but there are likely alot more at the site calledwww.spinehealth.com It's a very active board and alot of people post there daily. I'm sure you can find more info there.

If it were me, I'd probably call my doc and see if there is anything else you can try. Otherwise, the additional fusion might be your only shot. But, I've also heard that spine surgery isn't usually done (per se) for pain relief, but because of instability and/or nerve damage.

I wish I could help, but I certainly wish you luck and hope you'll keep us posted.

Dear gotcher,
I have been having the same problem and after my third back surgery, I think my neurosurgeon, pain management doctor, masseuse and I have finally decided it's my SI joint that is causing the pain. I'm going to have a cortisone shot and if that helps, I may have an RF ablation done. The last would be surgery. There was a webcast yesterday and I watched it. It explained everything perfectly. The web site is www.s-ibone.com I don't know if you can bring up the webcast, but here is the link, give it a try http://event.on24.com/r.htm?e=328854&s=1&k=146D375B62271F4648A2AEF26B1C4D8F
you might copy and paste it to see if you can watch it. It seems that it has been a little known problem until recently. Good luck.

i had my harware removed after my auto accident. the accident bent my hardware and damaged my si joint. pain has became more intense since my post, i have 2 more injections with no help. my pain doc says RF procedure will not help.just prescibes more meds.

I just had an injection and it has helped a little. I still think the RF ablation would do better. I will talk to my doctor about it next time.
