REMOVING OF HARDWARE PUT IN THE NECK

Started by sweet1234 on 11/21/2010 7:57pm

My wife is 41 and she had surgery in january and she is in alot of pain still. When we told the doctor that did the surgery about the discomfort he told my wife that she needed to adapt to it . We fired him and we fired the primery care doctor to. We want to see a different doctor and she told us to go see this other specialist, he was very nice and he told us that my wife should have some hardware removed and that he wouldn't have put that much hardware in. My wife has a big drive to get better. Her quiality of life write now is not the greatest. I just im very scared, she almost didnt make it through her 1st surgery and now she needs another.

. December 2009 I had fusion with implants C4-C5, C5-C6, and C6-C7.
My pain level is about a three sometimes a four. PT was my answer and neck exercises both helped I would like to go back to PT for a little more. My neurosurgeon had told me that the neck would only be 60% healed at the one year mark. Last week I had a follow-up and was told that the fusion was around 50%.
Time and PT I believe are your answer.
I personally would be very very reluctant to have hardware removed without getting a few other opinions. Say this because the implants are just about the only thing holding your neck together.
Knowing what I know now I would still have this done.
