Neck Pain
Quick history I was diagnosed with Cervical Spinal Stenosis about 3 yrs ago. Have had 1 sugery so far c6-c7 fusion. My right arm is almost completely numb and have almost no strength in it or my right hand. it Hurts to move my head left or right the pain is at the base of my skull or top of my neck..My neck feels like it is on fire constantl from top to bottom. About 3 months ago I started having severe shooting pain from my neck down my left arm it last about 2-4 minutes then fades away then my left arm is numb for about 10-15 minutes after that everything returns to (normal). I did what any good patient would do I told my doctor about the problem. He told me that my Mri looked (normal ) for spinal stenosis and he couldnt see any reason for my right arm weakness or the severe pain Ive been having down my neck and left arm. Im just really frustrated and not sure where to go from here.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Have you seen a pain doctor? It sounds like the kind of nerve pain I have which all started with a spinal cord tumor years ago. A pain doctor might be able to do something that a regular doctor can't . .. . or won't. Have you heard of the spinal cord stimulator? Or the pain pump? Just a few suggestions. You can research them both on this site and the Net.
Good luck!

Thanks my pain management doctor is the one who refered me to a neurosurgeon the neuro surgeon told me that aside from my spinal stenosis he couldnt explain what was causing my neck pain or my right arm weakness or the sharp pains in my neck and my left arm. I am in the process of switching Pain doctors to someone who is closer to me Hopefully they will be more helpful. Thanks again for your input
