Started by aakkss on 09/02/2010 1:38pm

Hello. I am 21 years old man with Scheuermann’s kyphosis and mild scoliosis. My height is 174, my weight is 64 Kg. I have no pain. I do not grow any more and I do not have any increase of my curvature.
My X-ray:http://s42.radikal.ru/i095/0905/a7/7ecb09f67105.jpg
I was doing special exercises for spine for 3 years. Now I go to a fitness center. My question is, сan I do deadlift http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadlift) , squat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squat_(exercise) ) and military press http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_press )?
Is it danger for me? (disc herniation, protrusion, pain, kyphosis increase)
I want to start doing these exercise very much…
Thanking in advance for your help

Hi, my son has kyphosis (or at least, I've just diagnosed him from reading on Spine Universe about it. The doctor offered him the option of a back brace when he was about 13 but didn't mention kyphosis; he said it was just a growth spurt and that it would resolve itself. It hasn't.) Like you, my son, now in his twenties, is into weightlifting and working out. I am concerned he might be making things worse for himself, and would really love to hear what you've found out in this regard. How have things worked out for you? And what would you advise, based on your own experience? Thank you in advance for any recommendations you can provide.
