Progression of symptoms from herniated L5S1

Started by 102085889364282... on 05/09/2016 7:44pm

My DH had a discectomy 7.5 years ago. NO residual until last week. He was 100% back to normal.

So, he developed the same exact symptoms - pain in buttock, below buttock, behind knee, cramping feeling in calf, and pain to ankle. pinky toe feeling "weird". Could barely stand or sit, and was not pleasant when lying down either. We went in and started on meds - steroids, hydrocodone - done now, acetaminophen, naproxen, gabapentin, cyclobenzaprine, stool softener.

Now he is saying his calf is numb today, and the pain is much less. Is this a progression of symptoms in the right direction, or the wrong direction?
