Hello.
3 years ago picked a towel up and heard crunching sound in my back, next day pain was unbelievable.
This pain was to continue 24/7 for 2 years, also muscle spasms in lower back.
For 18 months was unable to sit down, only way to get comfortable was to lie on my stomach.
Then about 6 months ago my driving license was with drawn due to my brain disease Narcolepsy/cataplexy and i had to walk every where as i live on my own.
Next week i am due surgery on L4-5 where by they shave off little bone that is touching nerve.
The pain use to be 10/10 but the last 6 months i would say its now 3/10,always there but i can deal with it.
Having 2nd thoughts about surgery,i am worried i say no and the pain returns could not live with that again.
Need advice i really dont know what to do,worried about surgery and not wakeing up due to narcolepsy.

Decreased pain level is good. Sounds like walking might be improving pain.
Have you thought about a second opinion for surgery?

Physical therapy might be beneficial.
