neck surgery

Started by becw6 on 05/16/2011 6:28am

I have been researching a less invasive approach to neck surgery. I am looking into minimally invasive Laser Surgery for a herniated disc in my neck (C6C7) . I consulted a neurosurgeon a the University of Utah hospital and he said not to even consider laser neck surgery because it is a fringe approach and a scam. The traditional approach of disc fusion is used by all competent spine surgeons because it is proven. Anyone with information or experience with less invasive surgery?

I have the same question! I'm facing lamnioplasty (C2-C7 herniations with stenosis), but recovery time is 6-9 months with full recovery as long as 2 years. Minimally invasive surgery certainly looks appealing...I just don't know which way to go. Anyone out there who's had multiple cervical herniations with successful minimal invasive surgery?
