Help with back issue

Started by Izthewiz on 03/28/2020 5:36pm

I'm lost with my current issue and finding answers.
About 10 years ago I injured my back.
Recently last 6 month's ive had major back pain and the urge to urinate.
I ended up in ER as I couldnt sleep because this issue.
They did a CT scan and i was diagnosed with
L4-L5 L5-S1 degenerative disc space narrowing
Endplate osteophytes L4-L5 disc bulge results in moderate bilaterial foraminal stenosis.
For my urge to urinate they refered me to a urologist.
Urologist thinks this is caused by my back and nerves pressing down.
Not sure what to do.
At night I'm fine sleeping throughout without any issues of getting up.
But in the day its more bothersome having to go around 8-10 times per day.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi izthewiz, that sounds miserable! I'm not a doctor (I'm the executive editor of SpineUniverse), but it sounds to me that some kind of decompression surgery may be helpful. I would guess that a surgeon would widen the spinal canal around the vertebrae you indicated (maybe microdiscectomy or laminectomy or both) and remove the osteophytes. Again, not a doctor though! If you don't have a surgeon, check our doc finder for one near you who can help. https://www.spineuniverse.com/locate/spe... Good luck!
