Losing hope in Las Vegas...

Started by Alivandu-art on 11/27/2016 5:57pm

For the past month I've been in PT. It helps. I realize that I shouldn't have told him that because , apparently "helps" translates to "I have been cured." He prescribed me naproxen and suggested I take gabapentin. After another month If I am still "suffering" he informed me that what's next is, a series of spinal injections. I say no no. Do I HAVE to ? I'm serious. I need help please folks. how do I prove myself? Are there things that I can say to him that obviously won't make it worse or should I just forget it. Are all these clinics the same? Losing hope.

Oops here's the first part of my post. First timer lol
Hi everyone,
I moved to Summerlin area of Las Vegas from Los Angeles a year and a half ago. 3 years ago, I had spinal fusion, an interbody cage, rods, screws etc.The first couple of years were great. I only occasionally would take a percocet. However, the degeneration has continued. Had a CT scan 2 months ago, that proves it. I can't understand how my new pain specialist can look me in the eye and say I am not feeling enough pain for medication...how does he know? Should I ask him? WTH. I've had to start wearing the back support brace and use the cane again if I'm going to be walking more than 10 minutes. The doc actually told me that was the reason for my discomfort....ummmm and I should stop it. Shame on me. Ok.I put my supports aside and walked (like a drunken hunchback) for about 30 mins. Guess what doc? .it's worse!

I was 29 at the time of my first set of fussions and didn't want to go through another back surgery, was told these shoots could help !! Please be careful with spinal injections I had a series done 2 years ago and it caused another of my disks to rupture !! That in returned ended in me having my 7th spinal fusion!!! Don't get me wrong they do work for some people ! I also had to have a blood patch a year before that from an epidural injection ! The doctors make them sound simple but do be careful .

Thank you for posting a reply. Yeah I want to avoid having to get injections just so I can get medication. I feel like I have no choice. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Your profile pic says a lot...YOUCH! Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks again

Sorry I am not from Vegas. I am in Florida. Here is my story: I had a L4-L5 Lamenectomy both R & L side for bone impingement. One month after surgery in Sep. 2015 extreme pain started in RT back down thru hip and RT leg to toe. Had numbness, tingling, shooting pains and 24/7 aching. Have now progressed to leg spasms and cramps so bad that my RT leg looks like a rope tied in knots. Taking 10-325 Perks 4 times daily with no relief. Spine surgeon says it is due to massive scar tissue that is about 3″ long on spine from L4-S1. I had the caudal lysis of adhesions with saline, hyalurondase, laticane, and steriods injection. No help for a whole month after. then got direct injections into the scar tissue at L4, L5, and S1. Still no help. Now scheduling lots of appointments with surgeons. First one wants me to go on medical marijuana and says that there is no surgery or any other thing that will ever help me. I kept a positive attitude that when they say no help or hoe means that they are scarred to touch me now. Saw my last surgeon yesterday and he said that he can go in with an endoscope and remove as much tissue as possible and that if performed 2 times 2 months apart with special PT inbetween it will eliminate at least 70% of pain. This is the last stand I have cause my body rejected the stimulator implant that I tried for 7 days. Please everyone be persistant and think positive no matter how bad it hurts you physically or mentally. I am a US Marine Corps Veteran and I will fight to the end. Semper Fi
