I have been suffering since my 20s I am now 40. I had a herniated disc impinging nerve on the right side and now its is on the left side and have suffered for well over 1.5yrs with this one. I have for so many year gone through various forms of physio, acupuncture, massage, chiro, nerve freezing injections etc etc. I am lean, healthy but sit at a desk all day I am sure doesn't help but cant quit my job. I am daily horrid chronic inflammatory pain in my neck, into left trap, shoulder, down the back shoulder, nerve impingement. I have to ice daily, use a cream compound to help, don't want to use the medications they prescribe cause nothing really takes any of it away.

I am so done living like this. I have always been an active fit person. I tried physio mother's day weekend and they did some McKenzie core neck exercises I laid in bed crying like a baby the whole weekend.

I have given up and have booked surgery, Anterior C6-C7 dissection and fusion. I am so scared. I have osteophytes, degenerative disc disease, spondylosis, scoliosis, spinal stenosis all noted on the MRI. My head feels like it weighs a tonne. I don't feel so bad after rest but by the end of the day it is so difficult to keep holding my head up with my neck.

I've had the same procedure done to C3,C4,C5,C6. It's okay to be scared. I was very fortunate to have one of the top rated neurosurgeons do my procedure. But that didn't make it hurt any less. Stay positive and it's possible that this procedure may help alleviate other problems. It takes time to recover from this procedure and time for nerves that were compressed to heal. Nerves heal approx at he rate of 1 mm per month. Best of luck to you.
