I had a fusion surgery C4,C5 and C6 and C7 and had a plate and 6 screws in my neck after few months was told by the doctor that the plate was cracked.and right after the surgery my blood pressure was so high had to stay in hospital for few days and was taking medication for it till today.
i had found out that DBX putty that they used was the reason and in march 2017 the doctor told me that the putty is not heal and need another surgery to correct the issue.
what kind of treatment is this is this trail and error or your body
i was much better without the surgery and now after the surgery i am having more pains and sleeping is difficult coz you have to sleep without the pillow and on your back.

Hi, tonyh--thank you for taking the time to write to us. We are sorry to hear about the negative experience you've had with your cervical fusion. Spine surgery is a major operation, and you expect positive results when you undergo such a treatment.

While we haven't personally been in your shoes, we'd like to share some content that we think you'll find interesting. First, we have an article about treatment after failed back surgery ( Treatment for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome ). There's some good information here about how you should be treated after an unsuccessful spine surgery and expectations around recovering from a revision surgery.

The second article is about getting a second opinion ( Second Opinion on Spine Surgery: Rude or Smart? ). After a failed spine surgery, you may want to seek the advice of a different spine specialist to ensure moving forward with a second surgery is the best option for you.

Again, we are so sorry to hear that your surgery did not go as planned. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. We wish you the very best of luck!

I would get another opinion on the second surgery. I'm four weeks postoperative ACDF C4/5/6. My ortho used carbon fiber for my procedure and I have had excellent results . It took me three surgeons to finally get to one I trusted. I pray you get in touch with another surgeon. Sorry to hear this. Good luck!

I have had a 5 point fusion 20 months ago with a cage installed in my back and have suffered with similar back pain for almost that entire post surgery time
However, I am very happy to report that on the 21st month the pain rapidly decreased almost daily and today I am somewhat movement restricted but the pain is gone with the exception of my 1st morning out of bed time for which Tylenol is my answer.
Please do not get discouraged and hang in there --It should get much better
