L2 - L5 lumbar fusion

Started by joy4 on 03/03/2016 11:09am

I had a fusion from L3 -L5 eight years ago. Now, I have incredible pain in the back, buttocks, and down the back of the legs. I have been diagnosed with a forward slipped disk at L2 and severe spinal stenosis. Before all this happened, I was athletic, played tennis and other sports. Now I can not walk around my house or do minor activities. I am on many medications for pain including morphine but it is not helping. My question is are there any success stories where individuals get their life back and can walk without pain or do aqua therapy? I am feeling like I am on a sinking ship. I have a great doctor at Duke and I was told since I had so many fusions ,the prognosis for more fusions is high. I have disk degenerative disease, arthritis in my knees and feet. Am I doomed or is there light at the end of the tunnel. Is anyone else in this predicament? I would love to hear your comments.

Thanks,
joy4
