Lower leg & foot pain - mystery!

Started by BobbyD on 06/14/2013 9:40am

I had an L5/S1 fusion way back in 2006 (before that I'd had a discectomy in 2003). For about 3 years or so all was pretty good, until 2009 when I suddenly had very bad heel pain in both feet at once.

It felt exactly like plantar fasciitis for about 1 year but has progressed into excruciating pain in both heels and lower legs. It get much worse after walking, I can now only hobble for a few minutes before I need to sit down. The pain is constant now.

I have been to a lower limb specialist who cannot diagnose anything at all wrong other than a little scar tissue on the left side in my back. I would have thought that if this were the cause then I would have pain down both legs and not pain that starts in my heels and progresses very quickly to my lower legs (up as far as just above my knees usually). Also, that scar tissue would have formed soon after the surgery, not 3 years later!

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I won't bother to go into how distressing and debilitating this is as there are many people on this forum that know exactly where I'm coming from without me having to describe it!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you
