ANTERIOR AND POSTERIOR SURGERY FROM C1-T2

Started by dmrenton1 on 08/27/2012 7:55am

I was told by several surgeons that I needed the above surgery due to degenertative disk disease (Rheumatoid Arthritis in spine) and if I didn't have it I would die within a next year or so as the RA is progressing rapidly. All of the disks in my neck have collapsed and only the muscles are holding up my head....when they go, my head drops and cuts off my breathing. Also, from the waist down, I am fused with metal cage, rods and screws. Additionally, I have numerous autoimmune diseases. At this point, it appears I have the choice to not have the surgery and die or I can risk having the surgery maybe live a little longer but also run the risk of death as it is such a drastic surgery. Anyone out there been through this type surgery?
