37 weeks pregnant with grade 2 spondylolithesis and degenerative disc

Started by mousem76 on 08/13/2011 10:14pm

I was in a car accident in 2003 which has left me with Grade 2 Spondy with pseudo-disc with some impression on the right S1 nerve root and distortion of the both L5 nerve roots. I have a degenerative disc at the L4/5.
It was suggested that I have a fusion & laminectomy however because I hadnt yet had children I decided too hold off as long as possible.

I am now 37 weeks pregnant and struggling (to put it mildly). The pain I am in each day is unexplainable and the scciatica is now in both my legs. somedays it is an effort to go to the toilet and when I wake up some mornings it takes me a while to regain full sensation in my legs - I have fallen some mornings

I have decided to have a c section as I dont feel that my back will have the strength to enable me to give birth naturally. My ob is a little vague on my back injury and I fear that he has not fully analysed my back problems despite hime receciving reports from my neurosurgeon.

I guess what I am hoping for is to get feedback on similar stories to mine to maybe give me a little piece of mind that I will be ok with a c section
and that I have made the right decision.

I would be grateful for any feedback I can get.

This is causing me tremendous stress and fear, so please any help will be appreciated
