sleeping issues 3 yrs post Cervical Spinal Fusion

Started by Spindlepatient on 03/27/2017 11:05am

Cannot seem to find the right way to describe problems to Doctors. They all want to immediately administer drugs. My problem is; while sleeping, my neck relaxes and sags, causing severe muscle tension on one side of body. Cannot sleep on my side anymore or sleep in a bed like before (on my side). I had a C-6 to C-2 cervical fusion. The pain wakes me up and sometimes a long hot shower seems to help. But the pain is a level 9-10. Any recommendations, please help.I walk 10K steps or more a day, have lost lots of weight, still have sleep apnea, FRUSTRATED. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Hi, and thank you for taking the time to post! We are so sorry to hear about your sleep issues. Getting a sound night's sleep is so important, not just for your spine health but also for your overall health.

We wonder if the problem could be related to your mattress or pillow. We found this article with some information on mattress and pillow guidelines that you may be interested in ( Mattresses Matter: Ergonomic Guidelines ).

Keep us posted if you learn any more about what could be causing your sleep problems. We wish you a good night's rest soon!
