Failure of five metal plate Fusion

Started by Life of pain on 10/13/2018 8:18pm

Hello 1 year ago September I had my second back surgery they fused five metal plates from L1 to L5 in my back. All the screws have come out and are floating around in my spine I have never been in more pain in my entire life. They bent my spine I cannot stand up straight I lean forward and been towards the left side of my body. I cannot walk more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time and I have to lay down. Prior to my surgery I was able to walk, dance pretty much do what most people do in life. I was wondering is there anyone else that has had 5 fusions all done at the same time or if anyone has any advice for me. I only seen the surgeon 2 times once when he sold me on getting the surgery and the second time when I demanded to see him. He told me to go get a second opinion somewhere else. At the time I told him to please take out the metal that he had put in my body he told me it was too late that it already had embedded itself to my spine. I told him that I have been complaining since my first appointment and no one listen to me no one bothered to check and now he's telling me that I am stuck in this is my life. I ended up taking myself to the University of Washington Hospital to get the best doctor I could find he is going to cut my stomach open to get all the screws out but he told me I was going to be in pain the rest of my life. He's going to take a new MRI for me and then he would inform me if there was anything he could do to help me it did not sound very good does anyone out there have any advice thank you Maggie
