Hi, bobo--thank you for your post! We have heard from others like you who have concerns about problems with their spinal instrumentation after spine surgery, and we have some information that we hope will help.

The first thing you'll need to do is meet with your doctor to understand if the source of your pain is, in fact, caused by a problem with your instrumentation (imaging scans will show this).

If your pain is caused by a problem with your spinal instrumentation, you and your doctor have options about whether to leave the hardware in place or remove it. You can read more about what might go into this decision in this article ( Spinal Fusion Instrumentation Removal: Pros and Cons ).

We hope this information is helpful, and we wish you the very best of luck!
