back pain and legs weakness

am having a serious pain at my back
and a weakness in my legs

Thank you for your post! Weakness (along with numbness, tingling, and bowel and bladder problems) is a neurologic symptom. If you have neurologic symptoms related to back pain, we encourage you to seek a spine specialist to fully understand what's causing your symptoms. You might also want to check out our article called Neurology Basics ( Neurology Basics: Neurological Exams )--this will give you an idea of what to expect from this type of visit with your spine specialist.

Back pain with weakness in the legs has also been associated with sciatica (you can learn more about sciatica in the article Sciatica: Symptoms and Possible Causes ), but that diagnosis will need to be confirmed by your doctor.
