Microdiscectomy L5-S1

Started by Morgan Hartley on 11/02/2016 7:01pm

Hi there.
My husband recently (1 week ago) had a microdiscectomy on his L5-S1 disc. He was functioning pretty okay before surgery , however couldn't drive comfortably at all, and couldn't stay seated anywhere else very long either without becoming extremely uncomfortable. We discovered he had a bulging disc. After more PT than necessary in a lifetime, and 3 injections, we found a spine surgeon specialist and booked a date for surgery. We finally got to the surgery stage because of how uncomfortable he was, AND we now have a son! He's 3 months old, and my husband has been unable to get on the ground and play with him since he's been born due to his pain. Anyways...last week he has to microdiscectomy on his L5-S1 and there was no immediate relief. He got worse on days 3,4, and 5. He's now better than the last 3 days, but still hurts. He also was having his pain stop at his right hamstring before surgery, and now it goes down to his ankle. He says the pain is about a 2-3 when he's moving around and then when he lays down, it's a 0. Do y'all think he will continue to improve? Any similar stories?
