Pain months after discectomy /laminectomy L5 S1

Started by Nicole n on 10/24/2016 12:11pm

In May I had laminectomy /discectomy L5, S1. I also have bulging L3 &L4, severe stenosis, and DDD due to arthritis. Surgeon could not perform the fusion he stated I needed~due to a blood disorder I have. I cannot remain on the table that long.
Now, nearly 6 months later I am experiencing a severe ache (like a toothache) in my left buttock, sometimes shooting into my thigh and outer leg. Similar to my preoperative pain, so thought the tingling and numbness. I also feel as if my lower back (which also aches) is very unstable and could buckle any time.
I went through 2 LT rounds with very limited success, I have since lost 24 pounds and counting, stretch, swim and walk regularly.
Is this normal....? Is it possible one of my other bulging discs could be giving.g out?
Should I request another MRI?
Would epidural like I received pre op possibly help?
I'm just so over the constant pain!
Thank you so much!!!

Hello, sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I had the same surgery and it reherniated right away. Here I am 5 1/2 years later just getting in to see new surgeon to see if they can fix it. On major meds that do not allow me to drive.
