Lumbar fussion

I guess I am one of the 33 percent. I have an L6 birth defect that finally caught up with me. When the pain in the right hip and leg became so sever ,unable to walk no more than 50 yards, I opted for the 2 level fusion . I had nothing to lose. Recovery was painful and restrictive, taking about a for proper healing. The only problems I have are restless leg and stiffness . Had restless leg before surgery due to nerve damage. At the time I was 69 years old-not a spring chicken. Maybe that I opted using my own bone material may have helped with a controlled rate of bone growth . Both surgeons (neuron and ortho) were happy as clams but not more than me. Went off all pain meds except Advil which helps with the stiffness. Forgot that I also have degenerative discs and Spondylitis in L 4. The surgeons took the time to do the best they could with a difficult problem.
