Nerve damage & bladder issues

Started by 424383671093991... on 07/12/2015 12:37pm

I've had four surgeries & I am fused from S1-L3 or L2. I realize I should know exactly where I'm fused, but after 3months in the hospital due to a UTI that went to my kidneys-I ended up back in the hospital for the most recent spinal surgery (Aug 28, 2014) which ended up being an emergency surgery due to a life threatening spinal infection. The infection literally caused dissentigration on the slipped disc (@L2-3). I need to say that surgery to remove that disc & drill two holes in my spine in which to pull the nerves through- was planned when my kidney situation took over.
Anyhow, since the infection "ate" that disc, I have been wearing a brace for the last ten & one half months, waiting for my spine to fuse naturally. No further surgery could be done until it was completely fused.
(Please stay with me, I'm getting to the crux of the current situation ).
As of Fri. July 10 I am completely fused. I am now cleared to have the less invasive surgery for the nerve damage. The doctor also said I could wait and see if it continues to feel better.
ALL THIS TIME I AM HAVING A SERIES OF PROCEDURES FOR BLADDER ISSUES, BUT NONE OF THEM ARE HELPING.
I am convinced that the spinal nerve damage is causing the bladder problems. Dealing with the chronic back pain, and the constant bladder pressure is causing me to be miserable.
These two issues dictate my day to day life & the quality of it. I have three teenagers & a husband whose lives are also great impacted by how I am feeling. I REALLY NEED TO HEAR FROM OTHERS IF THEY HAVE DEALT WITH BLADDER ISSUES THEY BELIEVE IS CAUSED BY SPINAL NERVE DAMAGE AND ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO MOVE FORWARD FROM HERE. SURGERY, PAIN MANGAMENT aka pills, Etc.
My apologies for the length of this post.
