This is my story

August 29 my husband and I were in an auto accident.....a ten wheel dump truck came into our lane and totaled our car. I did not go right to the er, 2 Weeks later I was in excessive pain went to er. Dr did xrays came back and said I had a fracture in my spine they did am MRI and said no its not a fracture its spondylolisthesis.

Started going to physical therepy and a chiropractor (still in excessive pain) Chiropractor did more xrays he says I have a grade 2 possible grade 3 spondo (17mm) with instability at L5/S1 on flexation and extension. I am in excessive pain, leg numbness, leg pain, lower back pain, my feet are always cold, I feel like my lower body is disconnected from my upper body, I can not stand, sit, lay or walk for more than 5 minutes. I quit physical therepy because it hurt to bad, ive done hot/cold therepy, percocet doesnt help the pain, getting out of bed is impossible and I cant sleep.
I will be seeing a spine specialist in 2 Weeks (the quickest they could get me in) The
chiropractor says it is an old spondo, I am 36 and have never even had a backache, he says what may have happened was it was a fixed spondo and the accident made it start moving.

Any ideas what the specialist may say? Am I in for surgery? Any advice or opinions appreciated. I have pretty much lost my life because of this accident!!

Boog,
I can't give any advice as I don't know that much about your condition. I can say with some certainty that the most conservative treatments will come first (always). If none of those give you much relief then they will move on to more aggressive treatments.
Don't be afraid of being vocal about what you're going through. Talk to the Dr's. If, for what ever reason you don't like the Dr.'s you're seeing, request a different one. Be your best advocate and learn all you can about your condition BEFORE you see the specialist. (I always take my husband w/me, he's not afraid to pin the Dr.'s down. He also writes the questions down so he doesn't forget.) I can't stress that enough, especially your meds (mine do), cause memory problems.
Sorry I couldn't help more. Let me know how it's going for you,
Janet. :)

I have done physical therepy, hot/cold treatments, chiropractor, tens unit, bracing, rest and core exercises nothing has helped I actually think its getting worse. I can feel it moving, and it feels like my bottom half is disconnected from my top half when I roll or move.
