ALIF surgery

Started by Samijf on 07/18/2012 10:16pm

I will be having surgery (ALIF) sometime before Christmas for degenerative disc disease. The problem is the L5-S1 area. I'm concerned about recovery since in my job I sit all day. That is what bothers me the most now, is sitting or standing for any length of time.

Can anyone tell me about the recovery and if I will be able to sit for approx. 8 hrs a day at my job?

Thanks.

I had my ALIF done on 5/22/12, also at L5-S1. I went back to work 3 days ago and I'm struggling. I also have a long commute but sitting at my desk is extremely uncomfortable & causes me quite a bit of pain. I had to call my dr today & was advised to only work 3 days a week for the next few weeks. It's a rough recovery but I will say that the pain I'm having now is surgery pain. The pain I had for years is gone. Good luck!
