Pins infected maybe

Started by 615236409@facebook on 06/04/2012 5:48pm

Hey, I don't know if anyone can help I've searched the Internet for answers with no luck so far. I had a spinal fusion 29th may 2011 in January I started getting nasty cyst boils on base of spine, bottom and groin, I asked about this on my follow up appointment in February and they said it had nothing to do with what they had done, my op wasn't a success as I was still in pain. My gp made me an appointment to see general surgery to get these things cut out as no amount of antibiotics was shifting them. The general surgeon transferred me for an MRI as they believe the pins are infection and there is a track leading from pins to these cyst things. I'm waiting for results now, had MRI yesterday. Has anybody ever heard of this?

yes my daughter had the same cyst on lower back, doctor removed it but then needed to be packed and drained, every-week. they had a hard time understanding what this was...it wouldn't go away.this went on for4 mouth.she finely had and appointment with a surgeon. He told us she must have surgery right away that she had an infection.the following week she had her rods removed .......and that they where full of infection. This was very upsetting that it took so long to diagnose .No one sent her for an MRI....... she could of died.

If you think you have an infection after surgery do whatever it takes to get it treated seriously, even if it means you go for a second opinion at another E.R.
I had an infection after surgery and spent another 2 weeks in the hospital after being reopened and cleaned out. Then I spent another 6 weeks in rehab on super-strong antibiotics that made me so sick to my stomach. Spinal infections are very serious and can go to the brain. Please be careful. I didnt even have a fever but was admitted immediately.
You are in my prayers.
