Hi Brian,
I feel your pain, I have had lower lumbar pain and herniated dics for awhile now. I have had epidurals for a long period of time in the past and just gave up. Two weeks ago I went to reach for a empty planter that maybe weighed 2lbs and could not move. After i was able to straighten up it was painful but it hurt worse when I sat or layed down...couldnt get out of bed!! I used a heating pad to sleep the first night before I went for emergency appt. at my pain specialist, and it made it worse! It was 45 min. to get out of bed and it was extremely painful. Went to dr.and had another MRI and now he wants me to go right away for surgery. But according to him its something worse this time and doesnt involve me lifting incorrectly..So there are many different forms of pain and different treatments but and he did tell me heat wasnt the best thing for my situation but that ice would be better. So maybe try that but definitly see someone other than ER room. I had epidurals today still the same pain. so hopefully maybe you will seek relief. maybe if your lucky it could be a pulled muscle, which is very painful but does work itself out if your able to move alittle bit. Good Luck!!!

I had the same thing happen. What I learned is the X-rays don't show a herniated disk. I had a huge herniated disk, but they kept saying pulled muscle. Finally after not being able to walk and do therapy they sent me for MRI, that was my last day of therapy, I went for surgery. You need an MRI to see. Sounds to me like a herniated disk, from my experiences anyway.

Hi Brian ....my prob sounds the same but isnt ,i have ddd and spondlothesis....but i do experience all the same things you do ....i have had arthrotecs which is a antiflammitory which helps alot ...and keep at the ice ,dont apply heat .I have also had a nerve blocker called gabapentin which took away the pain down the leg which is your nerves being pinced ..have u had a cat scan or mri ?My back problem was titled a lumbar strain until i went to a orthepedic surgeon with a referral from family doc he said i have the degenerative disk disease and spondy and need a lower lumbar fusion which i am having at the end of the mth .....So i would to get a referral if it continues .I have had this all my life and didnt notice it until a work injury .Good luck hope ive helped .
