Posting a "Surgery Review"?

Started by fallson on 06/20/2011 11:54am

Hey everybody, I just went to my consultation yesterday, and am cleared and set for L4-L5 minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery tomorrow in Tampa, Florida. I don't like surgery, but this pain is killing me and this minimally invasive procedure beats a fusion a thousand times over. Just wanted to know if you guys wanted me to post a little review of what I thought of the place and procedure tomorrow? Since we probably can't mention doctor's names and places in the public forum, I guess just Private Message me for more details. Wish me luck everybody!

No replies? I'll signal that as a yes!

I traveled down to Tampa, Florida, and had my procedure at the Bonati Institute. The staff there was really nice and made me laugh to relax me before surgery. Yes, I am a wuss!
Once the procedure started, I was nicely medicated, so I barely felt anything. They keep you conscious though, so you can help them say when you are in pain so you can avoid nerve damage. Big advantage over fusion!

I then came to my senses in the recovery room after surgery and they gave me some snacks because I hadn't eaten in 24 hours. My wife then picked me up and now we are at my mother's house, and I am relaxing watching sports. I feel better already and will be back to work on Monday. I am a happy man!

Hey Nurse,

I actually opted out of fusion, too risky and I have family it didn't work for. I had a minimally invasive procedure done and couldn't be happier. Glad your fusion worked out though!

Hi fallson,
I am so glad all went well and you are feeling better.I never read it ,but what exactly was the procedure done for and what did they do?

It is a decompression. My lumbar had a lot of overgrown bone, so they used a laser utensil to burn it away, and free my nerve. Then my pain went away! It was quite amazing.

Hey Nurse Nancy,

Sorry for my late reply. Everything is going great! I am glad to hear you are doing well too.
My son came back from college for his summer break and we have been playing basketball almost every day. If you would have told me I would be playing basketball a year ago, I would have laughed. Life is good.
