l4-l5 fusion problem

Started by Jim A on 06/10/2011 3:30pm

I had L-4--L-5 disc fusion two years. After the initial surgery I had to go back two months later because the right side screws broke the bone. The right side screws and hardware were removed. I have the left side screws still in place. Two years later it still hurts, a lot. So I just got the results of the latest CT scan. I understand mostly everything written in the report but here is my question: On the report it says "At L4-5, there is left laminectomy,,," does this mean that the right side did not fuse properly?
In addition, it states that there are Mild anterior spurring at L4-5. Could either of these two issues be causing the pain?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to ask a question to your question, but my doctor recommended a fusion to me.It scares me though, all of the rods and screws and it always seems to have complications. What did you think of the procedure?

It was some of the hardest pain to deal with. However, it did help with sciatica.

The worst pain ever? That makes me more glad I didn't get it done.
