Congenital Small Spinal Cord

Started by Jpie on 10/20/2010 12:33pm

I was told by my Neurosurgeon I was born with a small spinal cord. I was recently denied by SSD and am trying to find information on small spinal cord and being born with it. I keep finding Congenital Spinal Stenosis but this is not the same thing. I know that I because I also have cervical and lumbar stenosis, arthritis, degenerative disc disease and Stenosis to name a few things.
I am looking for all the information I can find on my condition as I know that having the small spinal cord I am more prone to having pain as the discs herniate as there is no room for the fluid to go except in to my spinal cord and the one in my lumbar region is torn and I experience pain that takes my breath away at times.
I appreciate any help that you may have.

I am a male and have Scoliosis and arthritis in my lower back, plus a few disc problems and neck issues, but when I visited my neurosurgeon, he told me that I was born with a spinal column, that is only about 2/3 as large as most people. I also would like to find information on this topic! I don't know if this has anything to do with the condition, but I also have a twin sister.
Thank You!
