Anyone actually have success from surgery?

Started by Carlyn on 01/02/2019 8:42pm

I injured my back working out. L5 S1 Right side. Was in the most intense pain for 10 days. Now I'm left with extreme weakness and muscle atrophy in right foot leg hip and butt. So frustrated! I live such an active lifestyle that waiting for my body to maybe repair itself is even more frustrating. Wondering if anyone has had success with laminectomy and discectomy surgery with similar injury/symptoms? I dream about running again one day,(

Hi! I recently had a L4 L5 laminectomy and discectomy in October 2018. I had a huge ruptured disc that I had been dealing with for over a year. I had right leg weeknes, bilateral sciatic pain all the way dow both my legs, numbness in my toes, and weired vibrations in my private. Not to mention I had not slept in my bed for over a year, I was sleeping in my recliner. After having my laminectomy in October my leg pain is almost completely gone. Which I'm so thankful for and now able to sleep in my bed again. But I still suffer from munbness in my toes on both feet when I stand to long and I also have chronic back pain that has not gone completely away, some days I don't hurt much at all but other days still suck. So I would say try physical therapy first and see if they can heal your back that way first. If that dosent work ask your doc for a mri to see what's going on. Also before my surgery I went to a chiropractor and while seeing him it mad a big difference with the pain. I wish you luck! I know it hard to live with back pain but life is sure worth it.

Hi I had a lami fusion L5S1 3 weeks ago. Woke up out of surgery a different person. So far it’s been life changing. I had bi lateral pars a tear and stage 1 anterolisthesis. I worked out 5-6 days per week before. Think that’s why I bounced back. Went back to work in 12 days. Good luck to you!

I have been told, until there isn't anything else to do, by chiropractor, not to. A friend of mine told me, she had surgery, and now she has to fight scar tissue, and she still has issues with her back
