Yoga for Spondylolisthesis

Started by Misha G on 11/22/2012 3:33am

I am wondering if yoga is safe to be practised under a condition of spondylolisthesis. Although there are stretches and poses derived from yoga for this condition, how safe are they?

Personally I must admit I have very little faith in such things as yoga. But even I must admit one good thing about such treatments, if properly supervised by a qualified instructor you are very unlikely to come to any harm and that is more than can be said for some more conventional treatments. So give it a go and see how you get on, and please let us know.

I understand and in a way agree. I have been swimming regularly though and that helps. The challenge is to actually create enough time for elaborate yoga regime. So far I've been consistent with my lumbar stretches and swimming. Will definitely share any benefits form yoga. Also, any experiences on a pregnancy with my spinal condition? Will my spondylolisthesis deteriorate? I'm also 33 and this would be my second pregnancy. Although I have taken my doctor's advice, I was hoping to come across some personal experiences and opinions.
