About Nikki Kean

Nikki is the owner of Kean Communications, a multimedia company that specializes in digesting and reporting on pertinent healthcare issues. Prior to starting Kean Communications, Nikki was the Managing Editor for Practical Pain Management (2010-2017), a sister website of SpineUniverse, where she worked closely with the Editorial Board and authors to craft practical, informative articles for physicians who treat pain.

While working on PPM, Nikki developed two books on Opioid Prescribing and Monitoring to address a lack of training and education on the safe use of opioids, including proper assessment, monitoring, and treatment of substance use disorders.

For most of her career, Nikki has worked as a healthcare journalist—starting as an Associate Editor and working up to Editor in Chief for a number of physician-directed newspapers in the fields of anesthesiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, and pharmacy. Nikki has also worked for a Continuing Medical Education company, where she oversaw the development of programs in psychiatry, pain management, diabetes, and oncology. She also helped develop the curriculum for an annual psychiatry conference.

Nikki resides in New Jersey with her husband.
