About Dr. Kenneth Pettine, MD

Dr. Kenneth Pettine founded the Orthopedic Stem Cell Institute in 2011 and co-founded Rocky Mountain Associates in Orthopedic Medicine in 1991. Rated one of the top 50 spine surgeons in the United States, Dr. Pettine is co-inventor of the FDA-approved Prestige™ cervical and Maverick™ lumbar artificial disc.

Dr. Kenneth Pettine has an extensive background in spinal surgery, research, and rehabilitation. He is a board certified fellowship trained spine surgeon and he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Spine Arthroplasty Society, and the International Spinal Injection Society. He received his spine fellowship training at the Institute for Low Back Care in Minneapolis. Dr. Pettine completed his residency and his master’s degree in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Dr. Pettine is the recipient of numerous honors, a distinguished speaker at national and international symposiums, and the author of nearly 20 research publications. He is the principal investigator for 15 FDA studies involving non-fusion implants, biologics, and stem cells. He is ranked one of the leading experts in the U.S. for the clinical application of stem cells in orthopedics and spine. He is the principal investigator for three FDA phase one studies involving biologics.
