About John F. Peppin, DO, FACP

John F. Peppin, DO, FACP, is a member of the Practical Pain Management Editorial Board (one of our sister sites).

Dr. Peppin graduated from the University of California at Davis with his Bachelor in physiology 1983, completing a medical degree in 1992 and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Marshfield Clinic Internal Medicine Residency program in 1996.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, in pain medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and by the American Board of Pain Medicine, and in Hospice and Palliative Medicine through the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.

Additionally, he is a certified EPEC trainer.

Dr. Peppin was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and practices full time pain, palliative and internal medicine in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was the founder of Iowa Pain Management Clinic, P.C. in Des Moines, now closed.

In addition, he is the former Medical Director of Integrated Clinical Trial Services in Des Moines. He is one of the founding members for the Iowa Pain Management Institute and founding faculty for the University of Integrated Studies in California.

Dr. Peppin serves on numerous professional committees. Additionally, he is an editor and peer reviewer for numerous journals. He has published articles in the fields of pain management, palliative care and bioethics and edited a number of books and has given numerous lectures, papers and posters at conferences in the United States, Canada and China on topics in pain and palliative medicine, bioethics, end of life care and internal medicine.

Dr. Peppin also has an active and ongoing clinical and academic research program.
